it's time to tend to our souls

choosing a practice to give us grounded vibes as the seasons change

Hello, you.

Today I want to do things a little bit differently. Ok?

Let’s jump right in with the card for this week: the Tend card. It brings the perfect vibe of discipline, commitment, and self care that I think is needed in order to help keep me grounded, both as a woman, a leader, and as someone who is seeking to move through March and Lent in a very specific, committed, dedicated way.

Admittedly, March is a month of transition, so it can feel wild and chaotic as we shift back and forth between winter and spring from one day to the next. Just yesterday the sun was shining and the air so warm that I knew spring was actually now on her way. This morning as I sip my coffee, the fog is heavy and thick outside and the temperature is hovering at the freezing mark.

I find that I need to ground myself at this time of year, not only because of the uncertainty of the weather, but also as a way to remind myself to go with the flow, to embrace it all, and to trust the process - both weather-wise, within my own personal life, and in this messed up, worrisome world.

I made a decision on the first day of March to take up my daily meditation practice again. To be honest, it’s been years since I’ve meditated daily. I have meditated fairly regularly, but not daily. This past week, I spent 30 minutes meditating every evening and it has been a game changer for me. I cannot even begin to express the calmness and inspiration I have felt for the past 10 days. I find myself yearning for my meditation routine every evening.

So, as I think about the tend card this week, the message I feel rising up within me is to simply keep going. To continue this spiritual practice. And to let it be what anchors me all month long as the seasons shift and the days lengthen. There is much change in the air in March, so creating space to practice a spiritual discipline is a great way to tend to our souls.

I invite you to pick up a practice of your own this week, if you do not already have one. Spend a bit of time today pondering what your soul needs and how you can care for yourself. What practice of self care or self reflection can you commit to for the next 7 days? How do you need to tend to your soul? What could you do every day all week long that would anchor and inspire you.

Be gentle and slow with yourself. Choose something very simple - and doable. Remember that it is not about what you do, but about how you make space to just sit with yourself and give your soul the attention and care that it needs. When you do that, I guarantee that your intuition will guide you and give you exactly what you need to carry you through the changing of the seasons.

Just take your time this week. And see what unfolds.

xoxo. liz.

If not, then I wish you a most grounded and inspired week - and I’ll be in touch next Monday.

What follows is the letter I wrote and published on Saturday, which was International Women’s Day. ♀️

I feel that this is a deeper answer to why we take the time to tend to our souls, so I wanted to share it again - in case you want to use it this week .

I believe that the tend card, which invites us to develop our own spiritual practices, is a way that we can feel grounded and anchored so that we can do the work that we are called to do and become the people we are meant to be. Quiet meditation or journaling or yoga or prayer or whatever you desire to do when you have a daily ritual of solitude is what clears our mind, whispers to us messages of inspiration, and keeps us focused. So, tending to our souls this week, as we continue to think about what kind of leader we are meant to be, is just the balance that we need to make sure that we tune in to our souls and respond to the calling to step up and lead.

So, without further ado, here is my message for all of us - women, men, non-binary, trans, allies, queer, however you identify yourself - during this Women’s History Month. A call for all of us to become leaders as life unfolds and we become who we are meant to be:
