It just blows my mind every time I visit one of these monuments that our ancestors knew exactly how to build them to honour the solstice light! Magical β¨
Clava Cairns near Inverness is my absolute favourite - a mixture of cairns & standing stones βοΈ And we are visiting the Isle of Lewis this summer so canβt wait to see Calanais stones! ππ»
Ohhh so amazing! Iβm headed to Edinburgh this September for a short 50th birthday trip, and Iβd looove to visit Inverness, but Iβm not sure if weβll have time to squeeze it in. There is so much I want to explore in Scotland. The country feels like magic - Iβve visited once before, but it is also the home of my descendants. π«
βThe mystery and divine are not high above us or locked away tight in some special place. It is all found in everyday life. All around us.β Deeply true, Liz. Thank you for taking the care to revisit Newgrange in your memory and harvest the wisdom you found there.
Wow this was so special to read. I have heard of Newgrange but I was transported there with your words, how incredibly magical. I also entirely relate to your question about the flavour of summer as an inward or outward journey and the fact that of course it is both. Also my previous blog was on the concept of sacred space, feel as though we need to delve deeper into this subject, I love the way you describe it xx
This reminded on a TV series about the moon. Think was hosted by Dara O' Briain. They looked at the symbols on the outside and suggested how they used the phases of the moon for planting etc

It was such a joy to have a moment to reconnect with such a special place again. β€οΈ Thanks for being here, my friend. xx
What a brilliant description of Newgrange, Iβve never visited but would love to. This felt like I was there! β¨
Oh Iβm so glad you felt that way! I wish for you to be able to experience it one day as well. It was such a moving place. π«
