So beautiful Liz, I loved this gorgeous uplifting post and I always love how May seems to have a softness to it that March and April don’t have. I loved what you said about August having undertones of autumn and I completely agree so I love this reframe of May being early summer… I also loved the idea of it being a mirror to the spooky liminality of November and how this time it encapsulates rebirth. Thank you for sharing all of this beauty xx

Thank you so much Lyndsay, and I am so happy and touched to hear that you loved some of the different parts of this post. I feel so much love and hope as May starts this year. It is a soft, beautiful month that reminds me to lean into the aliveness of it all right now. To really savor the moments. I so hope you have been enjoying some beautiful moments during your week away. xx

Hi Liz, I loved reading this upon waking today. I moved to the Northeast US about 20 years ago and one of the many things I love is the seasonal shifts that happen, not only of the four seasons and their distinct times, but also those in-between, liminal spaces of the changes being ushered in from one to the next. How lovely that you live in a place that celebrates this liminality! I almost wonder if we all have this kind of internal clock ourselves, of knowing when to celebrate these shifts? Just a few days ago, instinctively, we had our first bonfire outside, and it truly felt like ushering in this new season!

Oh, Nicole, the four seasons are such a gift, aren’t they? I’m so glad you’re living in a place where you can enjoy them as they unfold and shift in their own time. I totally agree with you, I think that our connection with nature guides us as we align our lives with the seasons, so I’m certain that your bonfire was an ancient earth connection that you intuitively tapped into. What a gift!! xx

I finished reading your article, and then accidentally opened your voice memo. What a delight. I listened to the entire thing, even though I had just read it. Such a treat to listen to you reading! Thank you. On the chinese solar micro seasons calendar, the beginning of May also marks the beginning of summer. And tomb sweeping festival is also in spring. Part of spring cleaning, we visit our ancestral graves, sweep them, and place fresh offerings on them. I love hearing the correlation between European and Asian traditions. Thank you :-)
