Yes! I love your thoughts an encouragement to languish in the new year vibes. I have often heard astrologers comment on why people struggle with new year resolutions - because Jan 1 rarely aligns with astrological resolve. Jan 19 the sun moves into Aquarius, which can feel more like a new start for people. The Chinese Lunar New Year falls on Jan 29 this year. Then we also have Aries which is the start of the astrological cycle. The sun moves into Aries on March 20. Samhain (Halloween) is considered the witch's new year. And of course, the new moon is a time for new beginnings as well (next new moon in the western hemisphere is Jan 29, with the Lunar New Year), so there are opportunities for new-ness all around! But rarely are any of these aligned for Jan 1.
You’re so right, Amanda! There are so many traditions and folkways that offer different ways to begin the year. And, actually, do we really need a beginning each year? That’s quite a linear way to think and live. The wheel of the year is cyclical, so perhaps there is no real beginning and end, there is just evolution and transformation, a continuing spiral. 🌀
The god of passageways. I adore this. I have to admit I’m not really out of my bubble yet, but small actions every day are helping me to get there. Thank you for reminding me of the cleansing nature of sage. I will do this today. The cancer full moon is asking us to release those parts of us we do not wish to take into this new world, and I have to admit I’ve been at a loss on how to do it. But your piece has reminded me of the beauty of ritual. Thank you so much my friend ✨
“There is no rush to be, create, plan, or do anything. Feel your way into this new year, into this month, into this week”. I love this.
This week I returned to work too but my heart and head were still deeply rooted in the holiday. I’m planning to take things gently this month and prepare to ease back in slowly 😊
This is lovely and beautifully soothing. 🥰
Thank you so much Hayley. Happy January to you. ❤️
