“We are the bearers of light in a very dark and cold world. And we do not need to be afraid of the dark. There is light to be found even here. Within each other, within each of us”. Love this so much! 💗
I think this letter really meant so much to me to write. It really captures some core beliefs that I have, so I’m ever grateful that my words resonated with you. Thank you! xx
As always Liz, beautiful thoughts and reflections: "We are always in transition and transformation, cycling through the rhythms of nature."
It's interesting too to note the similarity of many traditions celebrating the light, lighting candles, and welcoming in something holy and sacred. I think sometimes that the beauty of ritual is that it invites us to call in that energy or vibration, to reflect, to remember, and to practice.
What an incredible insight and way of wording it, Nicole. The sacredness of light and the beauty of ritual… I suppose they are ways in which we are drawn into and creat a sense of hope in our life. And what better time to truly focus on that then during the darkest time of the year? But, also to remember to rely on the sacredness and beauty of light and ritual even in those dark moments of our lives. So grateful for your comment. ❤️
Oh, Marusya! I am so excited that you feel inspired to celebrate Lucia on Friday! I’ll be thinking extra of you during the day, know that we are both celebrating Lucia, the light bearer bringing us the hope we need to survive the winter. 🕯️
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful post with us. I am pretty sure that you and your blog are what helped me adjust to winter in a more positive way. I appreciate your words and am always wishing you the best.
I know that you have struggled with the dark months and I’m so humbled by your openness and commitment to following my journey and my words for so many years. I wish you warmth and soft light and gentleness this winter, my dear friend. ❤️
You really are one of the handful of people who I consider a bright light especially during the winter months. In fact, I think I enjoy these shorter daylight hours better now than the summer. I don’t know that I would enjoy such long dark hours as you have in Sweden, but who knows. I might. It seems that the people of Sweden do not let the dark hours slow them down from daily activities that one needs to do. My former therapist did some research in Sweden about how the shorter daylight hours affect people there. It was years ago but it sounded like it would be interesting.
So gorgeous Liz, thank you for evoking the depths of the darkness so beautifully. It sometimes feels to me like December is a case of ‘holding on’ gently of course. I love the sound of the St Lucia Day festivities and the idea that we are the carriers of light. Thank you again dear one xx
Thank you so much Lyndsay. ❤️ The idea of Lucia inspiring me to think about how I am a carrier of light has resonated so deeply with me - and I’m very grateful that this tradition has come into my life now that I live in Sweden. Wishing you gentle and slow moments of light as you make your way through the holiday rush and the December darkness. xx
Beautiful post liz! 🤍✨
Thank you so much, Vicky! 🙏❣️
Absolutely gorgeous 🥰 I felt swept up in your words.
Wow, Emily. What an amazing compliment. I’m so glad that this letter spoke to you. Thank you for being here! xx
