The knife reminds me of the general tool, in some symbolism represented as a sword, of cutting through illusion. When you write "cut away the old in order to make way for the new", it makes perfect sense. Beautiful!
My initial reaction to the knife was - huh?! But, within a second, I felt how appropriate it was for this halfway point of the year. So glad it spoke to you too! xx
Thank you for finding these sweet words for the season, I feel them!
I must admit, I’m in total denial of the fact that we’re slowly moving towards the darker season again. I was about 2 months “behind” nature this year and felt winter much longer, spring and summer a lot later.
I’ve started my mid-year reflection and taking my sweet time, trusting my body knows. ✨
I am usually embracing the turn to the darker half of the year, even if I enjoy summer. But, this year, I am pausing much, much longer. I feel that I need (and want) to just be right here in the height of all of summer's sweetness for a while longer.
I don't even know if we had spring here in Sweden. If it was, it lasted maybe only a week. The weather went from winter to summer, and it wasn't until we were halfway into May that I felt the shift. So, now that you say it, perhaps that's why I want to linger so much longer in this solstice energy.
Enjoy your mid-year reflections... I am very, very slowing working through mine. Thank you for all of your wisdom and inspiration, Carmen. Yes, the body and spirit and our inner selves always know what's best. xx
I feel what you described here, Liz! The seasons were also a bit confused in the south of Germany. Cheers to the solstice energy! Soaking it all up to warm us over the coming months. Xx
Beautiful as always Liz and yes at first the knife felt a little jarring to me but then your words made complete sense. I have been cutting back quite a bit in the garden and it feels like a sort of in-between clearing phase which I had forgotten/not expected. I look forward to applying this to my life/work/creativity and to sitting down with your prompts soon xx
Thank you for these great questions! I’ve neglected my journaling practice a lot recently and it felt good to sit down and let the words flow with these x
